Meet the Governors

Daniel Hargreaves

This is my second Headship and it is a pleasure to be the Head Teacher of Balladen Community Primary School on the next stage of its journey. Since 2017, I have also benefitted from the ability to share good practise through my role as parent governor at a primary school in Burnley. I live in Lancashire with my family. If I have any spare time, I enjoy reading, going to the gym and playing guitar.

Susan Allison

I became a governor at Balladen Primary School as I believe primary education is the foundation for every child's future. I am particularly interested in reading skills for children. Since being appointed a governor in November 2021, and through my observations and discussions, I am confident that the Headteacher and his team, with their vision and plans, are steering the school in the right direction to benefit all children.

I have two daughters and five grandchildren, four of whom are at primary school age. As they all live away, I travel regularly to see them all which gives me great pleasure.

I have worked in the NHS throughout my career in clinical, teaching and managerial roles. I enjoy travel, music and the outdoors

I moved to Rossendale 5 years ago and since then our family has grown to include two children. The eldest is in Balladen school and loving it. My parents impressed upon me the importance of education and I'd like to continue that life lesson by helping my children and hopefully others. Joining the board of governors is one way to do that so I was happy to accept the invitation.
I work in sports media and have a growing collection of animals at home to keep us all busy.

I graduated with a degree in Applied Chemistry many moons ago but have worked in Logistics for the whole of my career. I currently sit on the Board of Directors with responsibility for Operations and IT for a medium sized business. I am a mum to two, both will be at secondary school from September. In my spare time I sing in a local community choir and provide a taxi service to the kids.

I’m really looking forward to my role as school governor. I would like to use my skills as a business leader and parent to support the school in the next part of its journey

I am extremely grateful to have this opportunity to be a parent governor. I have 2 children at Balladen Community School and have worked in Mental Health for 20+ years in the UK and Canada. Having worked with young people facing barriers to housing and employment, I have seen the vital role schools play in shaping children’s lives and their transitions beyond education. I am passionate about mental wellbeing for pupils and staff and hope to bring my knowledge and experience to support equitable access to education. I was a sponsored snowboarder in Canada. I love playing guitar and tapping into my creative side whenever I can.

Craig Richardson

Having retired from the Royal Navy recently, I now have the time and capacity to support the primary school and local community were my two children attend. I am looking forward to taking on the responsibility of a parent Governor, continuing the positive and great work in improving our school, whilst holding to account the senior leadership where there are deficiencies. I am currently employed as a technical manager at and Small to Mediium Enterprise (SME), and when not working enjoy spending family time at our caravan and volunteering in supporting Engineers through professional development and registration.
