PSHE

At Balladen, the physical and emotional well-being of our children is a high priority. We understand that the PSHE curriculum helps give children the knowledge, understanding, and skills they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives. They will also become informed, active, responsible citizens who will contribute to the life of their school and communities. It is important that children are given opportunities to develop confidence, to make the most of their abilities, to play an active role as citizens, to develop a healthier lifestyle, to develop good relationships with others and to know how to stay safe.

At Balladen Community Primary School we aim to develop pupils’ confidence and their knowledge of

  • being healthy and choosing healthy lifestyles
  • developing safe relationships, including online
  • contribute to living in the wider world as a considerate citizen.

A great deal of our PSHE occurs in everyday life at Balladen; from our positive behaviour management approach, our school values, our class routines and through assemblies. We also teach PSHE as discrete weekly lessons and there will be further opportunities for cross-curricular links through our topic work.

We offer additional opportunities to enhance children’s experiences, like e.g. a visit in the Life Education Van and the Bikeability scheme.
